Tết Trung Thu (Mid-Autumn Festival) - 2020 Online

The Vietnam Heritage Center preparation for this year, 2020, certainly has been very interesting and challenging. We wanted to engage the community to celebrate and learn about the second-most popular holiday in Vietnam, Tết Trung Thu (the Mid-Autumn Festival). Also known as the Moon Festival, it is said that the moon is the fullest and brightest on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Lunar calendar. Because of Covid-19, VHC hosted our first event.online via Zoom.

The story of Chú Cuội is always important to tell, so the NE-UVSA (Northeast Chapter of Vietanamese Student Associations) helped to tell the story via video.

We also created an interactive culture game using Kahoot, where participants played to see how quickly they knew this holiday, in order to score the most points.

Last but not least, VHC had invited guests to an “at-home scavenger hunt” in order to make lanterns on October 3 together, with volunteers giving live tutorials.
